Day 76

She works in the lunch line...or Waffle House.  I am not sure.

Day 75

I added hooves to this dude because I thought...yay, hooves and horns.  But then I realized the hooves just made him look like he was wearing heels unless I changed the leg and by the time I realized it I'd already colored in the hooves and couldn't make them into feet again.  Now all I see is a really gay winged man...which, you know...is cool. lol   Again, marker and colored pencil practice, this time more figure oriented...and fantasyish because that is what I do when I screw around.

Day 74

Another ugly bird day.  I am loving the way the copic liner pen just glides over the surface.  It's unlike anything I've used before. The browns are a bit cooler than scanned, they are my newest copic additions.  I needed cooler browns because all I have is the rusty warms. Bawk.

Day 73

Playing with markers again while watching "The Re-Animator" with Eric.  He named this doodle.  Sometimes you just got to give a doodle a name.

Day 72

So I wanted to do an ugly bird.  I googled ugly birds and did the first one that caught my eye. It's marker, gouache and colored pencil on tan paper.  Again...that black marker engulfs the other blacks in the scan. Oh well.

Day 71

Thanks to Eric for taking a picture of this one.  The scanner killed the really light greys, and this is a tad more accurate to life than the scan.  Anyway, this guy is awesome.  Watched his version of Lightning Strikes the other day and thought...welp, he'd be fun. So..yeah.  Here he be.

Day 70

I sketched this guy this morning before work.  I wasn't sure what to draw, so I searched google for "interesting faces" and his came up.  It's a meh kinda sketch, and I realized I don't have a good transition color for black tones...but I needed to get something done so after work tonight I can just hang out with my man and not be stressed about posting.  Things would be easier with a smart phone.

Day 69

Anyone who knows my dog will understand why this doodle cracks me up. He's obsessed.  He may need a 12 step program.

Day 68

So, my boyfriend, Eric, (http://www.shonborn.net) did a portrait of this dude named Rhondo Hatton, and he was cool looking, and I have wanted to sketch him since then.  So last night I did...as usual, my scanner swallowed any subtlety and you cannot tell that none of his face is as blanche white as the paper, but whatcha gonna do?  I'm too lazy to photograph at 7am and go through that whole process right now. Maybe someday I will switch to photographing certain things.

Day 67

So I wanted to do a sketch of the fourth doctor in my grey sketchbook.  The scan doesn't look grey - anyway - I overworked it like hell. Maybe because I was drunk, maybe because I was watching the worst movie of all time, I donno.  But I WILL be doing four again...better next time.

Day 66

Another sketch of Scribbles.  This time in Mad Hatterish gear. I transitioned to a grey sketchbook - at least for a while...because I love playing with it and I want to figure out how to make marker sketches work on it.  So, I'll be doing a lot of fluff work while I play.

Day 64

Another play with markers and colored pencil on toned paper....this time grey!

Friday, July 18, 2014

Day 63

I found out last night that toned paper takes marker...and this is my first "thing" since then.  It is going to take me a few to get it right though, but here is a start.

Day 62

Celebrated a new job offer today by buying a Copic sketch set in neutral greys.  I found out that Hobby Lobby has the set for 39.99, while Michael's is charging 54.99.  With a 40% coupon...I am now a happy camper.  Yes...I did have to give Hobby Lobby money...but maybe next time I will buy online.  I just love these damn markers so much.  This is the greys, white marker and white gel pen, and a deep deep black marker that almost reads like velvet.  Now...if only I could sell some work so I can justify this purchase...lol   Oh yeah, and I got some cheap Bics for bold color experimentation.  So excited to keep playing.

Day 61

A little late posting this one...but hey, I got it posted before bed!  I got distracted by a 10 hour work shift and then directly to the bar for my sister's birthday.  I just now got home, so just now posted the sketch of the day.  I say it counts. :P

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Day 60

I really want some more of these copic marker dealios.  They are so smooth and delicious.  Maybe someday I will actually do a reasonable drawing with them.  Till then, there is this. lol

Monday, July 14, 2014

Day 59

I will probably color this...but later. I am too tired to function right now.

Sunday, July 13, 2014

Day 58

yay!  I thought I wasn't going to get this posted in time, but Eric took a picture for me and by the grace of gawd I remembered my password...sorta.  So just in time...

Saturday, July 12, 2014

Day 57

I overworked the shit out of this unfortunately.  I added what I thought would be a light blue background but on the cream paper it turned greenish and then everything was just dull as hell and I spent the rest of the time trying to repair the boo-boos.  The classic Storm look was requested by my boyfriend.  I think I could do better next time. :P

Friday, July 11, 2014

Day 56

Just a lunchtime unfinished sketch today.  I didn't even have time to scan it in properly!  But I did sketch SOMETHING today and this proves it.  Tomorrow's will be better.

Thursday, July 10, 2014

Day 55

Splurged today on a small set of flesh-toned markers.  Besides the bleeding through the paper issue (easily solved by putting a piece of bristol in between the pages and only using one side per page), I'm excited about them.  I already want more. lol  I added some pencil to this as well, and gel pen for the black.  Cannot wait to experiment more!  I think my next sketchbook will have white pages though.  Maybe....

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

Day 54

Another sketch from the Walgreens catalog coupon thing at work. I added the flower, though. I really wanted to do a flower.

Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Day 53

I have this really awesome pen that makes things sparkly, so I wanted to do a unicorn. I wish the sparkle would scan, because the epic cheese of this is better with sparkles.

Monday, July 7, 2014

Day 52

I loved doing this.  With my new watercolor marker set I doodled and had fun while watching "True Romance" with Eric.

Sunday, July 6, 2014

Day 51

Got some new markers today...they suck on this paper...but I think my next sketchbook after this one is done will be a watercolor sketchbook.  The markers are watercolor markers...and are awesome on sized paper.  Unfortunately on my porous sketch paper it just sucks up like a regular crayola.

Thursday, July 3, 2014

Day 48

Lips!  I'm really diggin the red colors on the cream of the paper.  I think because it goes down so brilliant and others (like blues) turn icky with the colored background.

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

Day 47

Yay political commentary.  A 5 dollar bill was all I had...I know I should have used a Benny or something. lol

Tuesday, July 1, 2014

Day 46

I really wish my scanner could capture color and tone better.  It's really time to upgrade...or get a better program for adjusting.  Just an old lady's face today.
